YOUTUBE COMMERCIALS

I believe three different audiences are intended for the three different commercials. The “MasterCard Commercial” seems to be intended for an older audience. Because this is a commercial for a credit card, most younger children won’t find an interest in it. The tone is playful and the major character in the commercial, the elephant, does attract a younger audience but the overall intended audience seems to be for people eighteen and older.
For the second commercial with Homer Simpson I believe the intended audience is for a teenage crowd. The fact that this is a cartoon and is a very widely watched television show among teenagers makes this commercial appealing to younger people. There are some points in the commercial that seem to be intended for an older audience, for example at the end when Homer has a beer in his hand. But to teenagers this commercial jumps out at them because of the real television show “The Simpsons”. Adults also would watch this commercial and laugh because of it’s humorous tone.
Lastly, the Apple iMovie Commercial can be watched by a wide variety of people. The commercial doesn’t have anything that is vulgar in anyway and is appealing to men because of the woman who plays the “Mac home movie”. It also has a comedic tone to it when the PC man brings out his “home movie” and it is a man dressed up in a woman’s outfit.
These three commercials have a very different intended audience for each one and they are all appealing in many ways. The most often audience that watches commercials such as the ones we have watched are adults. Most kids aren’t thinking about getting a credit card or which computer is best to have. Although these commercials are different, they all have something in common, they are persuasive.
